Now is when Wellington’s winter running season really starts cranking. This Saturday we have one of the lower North Island’s premier cross country races, the Dorne Cup (up to 8k, at Trentham Memorial Park, Upper Hutt). The next day is a cool mixed terrain race near QEII Park to commemorate 70 years since the US Marines’ arrival during WWII (13km, click here for details). On Sunday 17 June is the second event of Scottish Harrier’s Three Peaks Series (a great way to explore the hills and valleys of Wellington).
And then of course there is the Armstrong Motor Group Wellington Marathon (and half marathon, 10k and Kid’s Magic Mile). Early bird entries close 11 June, so get in fast and book your spot in possibly the flattest marathon in the world (we won’t say anything about the wind!).
